My wonderful husband, Ed, and I are the blessed parents of five terrific children! Our homeschooling adventure began in 1988 when our eldest daughter was 5. We were debating between public and private schooling when a wise friend introduced us to homeschooling. We decided to try it for a year. We've been homeschoolers ever since! It's hard to believe that daughter is now grown, as are two of our sons. Our other son and daughter are in high school and this amazing adventure will be ending all too soon! I guess that will give us more time to spoil our four grandchildren!

Our family began attending ECHO in 1992, the second half of its first year. ECHO did semesters then! I joined the board in 1994. Sadly, I left the board in 1997 when we moved to Walla Walla. We came back to the Tri-Cities in 2005 and enrolled in ECHO again, of course! In 2006, I was very excited to be back on the board. It has been such a joy to serve homeschooling families along side these wonderful, Godly ladies!

My husband Dale and I were married September of 2001. We were excited to start a family right away, and had our first son in October of 2002. At that time I had no intention of homeschooling. We were blessed with another son in 2004 and yet another son in 2006. Most of the families at our church home schooled, and I began to consider it as an option. I thought “how badly could I mess up preschool and kindergarten?”…..and so our journey began. After the first year, I fell in love with it. My husband and I can teach what we want, when we want and gear to what our boys are interested in. I am actually learning along with them and it has become an exciting journey for all of us!

I became a part of ECHO in 2008 when my first son was 5 years old. He loved it and I really enjoyed getting to know the other homeschool families at the same time.

I joined the ECHO board in 2009 and it has been a wonderful opportunity to grow in the Lord, gain life-long friendships and learn more about homeschooling options (i.e. curriculum ideas, testing processes and Washington State homeschool law). God has been blessing our homeschooling journey and I look forward to see the plans He has for our family as we continue.

Our homeschooling journey began about 22 years ago, and a blessed journey it has been! My husband, Bob, and I have been married 30 years this fall, and have been blessed with 5 children, 3 daughters and 2 sons. Only the two boys are still at home, so this journey is almost over. Our youngest begins 9th grade this year. This will be my 4th year on ECHO board, and our 6th or 7th year with ECHO. Our boys have loved being a part of ECHO and have made some good friends over the years. God is good. We have a daughter getting married in September, so maybe one of these days I really WILL be a grandma – my son loves it whenever we go somewhere and people ask him if he’s enjoying his outing with his grandma – oh well, grey hair signifies wisdom, right?

I married my high school sweetheart, Brandon, in 1997 and have enjoyed everyday of our married life together. I am so thankful to God that I can stay home and work on being the wife and mother He has called me to be. We have 4 wonderful children - 3 girls and a boy ages 2, 4, 7, and 8 and are expecting a 5th child in January.

I planned on starting some easy homeschooling when my oldest daughter turned four. Plans changed when, at 3 1/2, she was pushing me to teach her to read. I started with fear and trembling by seeking out homeschool moms and asking them how they do it and what they use. I have worked hard on trying to keep up with my children ever since. Homeschooling is not always easy but it is always a tremendous blessing for the whole family.

I joined ECHO in 2007. We have all been blessed by what this has added to our lives. Our children, as well as ourselves, have met some wonderful friends. These friendships continue to grow as we all get to meet together every Friday during the ECHO year. The classes are wonderful supplements to their education with everything being taught from a Christian perspective. I joined the board in 2011 and am excited about what this means to our family.
