Family Participation Requirements

Family

With your assistance, we are anticipating another wonderful ECHO year! ECHO is a true cooperative, and could not function without the help and assistance of the parents as working, positive classroom aides.

Attendance at the Parent Night meeting is mandatory for enrollment in ECHO.

Please remember that ECHO is not a drop-off for your children and you must remain on the premises until children are dismissed to class (9:25 AM). We would encourage you to fellowship with other parents and appreciate your willingness to participate in each ECHO day.

ECHO classes end at 12:30 PM. Please arrive by 12:25 PM to pick up your children.

Please read the aiding sections carefully and come prepared to help minister to our children and our teachers.

A parent from each family will aide in the classroom for 6 - 7 days. You will stay in the same class for an entire 3-week rotation. This will allow you to better assist the teachers in your assigned classroom.

General Duties

Please come prepared each work day to:

  • Help set up the classroom before ECHO starts for the day, stay in room to help the teacher when she/he arrives.
  • After classes are over clean the room, vacuum, break down long tables, stack chairs.
  • Take roll in each class.
  • Help control behavior in and out of the classroom (Please review the Discipline Policy for more information).
  • Assist the teacher whenever possible, before, during, and after class.
  • Help the younger students to their next classes.

Work Hours

Aides are to sign in on the ECHO Aides' Roster at the front table no later than 9:00 AM on the ECHO clock and be prepared to stay until 1:00 PM. Please stay until all rooms are restored to their proper order, the board member on duty has released you, and you have signed out on the ECHO Aides Roster.

Check-in

You will need to pick up the Aide Notebook for your scheduled class at the front table after you sign in each week and return it at the end of each day. These notebooks contain important information such as classroom set-up, attendance sheets, discipline forms, tardy forms, and Student Award slips. If it was necessary for you to fill out a discipline form, please alert the board member on duty. On the first Friday of each 3-week rotation there will be a short briefing of aide duties and an assigning of set-up requirements. At this time, the Set Up Coordinator will give you a quick briefing of your duties and answer any questions.

Fines

A $10 fine will be charged to any aide who is late for a scheduled or traded work day. If you are unable to work, it is your duty to trade with another parent. A phone list with scheduled work days will be available to assist you in finding a substitute. A $25 fine will be charged for a no-show. If a parent is persistently late or fails to show, the board will look at that family’s continued participation in ECHO.

Nursery

Nursery is available to Teacher’s Aides for their own children ages 4 and under on their scheduled work days only. You must make other arrangements for school-aged children and day care children not enrolled in ECHO. Children may not be dropped off in the nursery and left if the parent is not working as an aide that day.

Duty Assignments

You will have the opportunity to pick your own aide assignments during aide sign-up. We will notify you when aide sign-up opens. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage you to sign-up soon after this opens. If you have a child in the nursery or enrolled in Preschool, please plan on working in that position for a three-week rotation.

Blessings to you as you assist us this year!
